LIFE AGHETA is a project co-funded by the European Union under the LIFE Programme and coordinated by Italimpianti S.r.l.
Project no. 101294052 – LIFE25-CCM-IT-LIFE AGHETA

LIFE AGHETA addresses both challenges at once with a single technology that captures CO₂ and abates pollutants in the same treatment, turning emissions into resources. The project directly supports the European Green Deal, the Zero Pollution Action Plan and the 2024 Industrial Carbon Management Strategy, and contributes to the European Climate Law and to the implementation of the Industrial Emissions Directive, by testing a solution that can be replicated across emission-intensive industrial sectors.
To demonstrate, in an industrial plant operating under real conditions, the environmental, technical and economic effectiveness of the AGHETA CCTU technology for CO₂ capture and the simultaneous abatement of air pollutants, raising it from TRL 6 to TRL 9, and to prepare its replication in other European industrial contexts.
Capture, transform, valorise. AGHETA is a modular, water-based catalytic multi-scrubber system operating at low temperature, which treats CO₂, NOx, SOx and particulate matter simultaneously in a single integrated process. Treated emissions are not stored but transformed into two powdered by-products, sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) and calcium chloride (CaCl₂), that can be reused as secondary raw materials.
