Confidential

Design and construction of a low-voltage electrical switchboard with dual A/B busbars for a transformer substation in a steel plant. The system ensures operational continuity, protection selectivity, and safety in harsh industrial environments. It features withdrawable circuit breakers, functional compartmentalization, SCADA readiness, and compliance with CEI/IEC standards. Designed to support critical loads and future plant expansions.

ABSTRACT

Design, manufacturing, and commissioning of a low-voltage Power Center for a transformer substation serving a steel production facility. The dual A/B busbar configuration, with two transformer incomers and main distribution sections, is engineered to ensure service continuity, protection selectivity, and operational safety in demanding industrial conditions.

SCOPE OF SUPPLY

·       Detailed engineering and switchboard layout

·       Manufacturing, wiring, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), and as-built documentation

·       On-site installation, commissioning, and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)

ELECTRICAL ARCHITECTURE

·       Two transformer incomers: Transformer 1 → Busbar B · Transformer 2 → Busbar A

·       Busbar coupling with mechanical and electrical interlocking

·       Withdrawable ACBs for incomers and bus-tie, MCCBs/MCBs for outgoing feeders

·       Functional compartmentalization, front ventilation, and safe maintenance access

·       Provisions for metering/energy monitoring and SCADA/remote control integration

·       Compliance with CEI/IEC standards (e.g. EN 61439)

KEY INSTALLATION DATA

·       Front width: approx. 5,700 mm (6 sections of approx. 950 mm each)

·       Type: LV Power Center – dual A/B busbar

·       Outgoings: service lines, motors, and secondary switchboards

BENEFITS FOR THE CLIENT

·       High reliability and service continuity for critical loads (rolling mills, pumps, auxiliary systems)

·       High selectivity during faults and transient conditions typical of steelmaking processes

·       Reduced downtime thanks to a clear layout and withdrawable components

·       Scalability to support future plant expansions
