CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES

A steel plant installed a new wire rod line for the production of steel coils. Fed by the existing rolling mill, the line expands the product portfolio and supports the plant’s sustainability and safety objectives. For commissioning, Italimpianti carried out the complete mechanical installation of structures and machine units.

SCOPE OF SUPPLY

OPERATIONAL PHASES AND ACTIVITIES

Handling and Positioning
Lifting, elevation, positioning, and alignment of rolling stands, roller tables, and pulling equipment.

Installation of Roller Tables and Conveyors
Assembly of guide roller tables and conveyor belts for transferring wire rod between process stations.

Service Steelworks
Installation of walkways, guardrails, stairways, and safety protections compliant with HSE requirements, ensuring safe access and operator protection.

Auxiliary Connections
Integration of pre-installed utilities (lubrication, hydraulics) and auxiliary systems required for line operation.

Dimensional Checks and Controls
Dimensional inspections, final alignments, and cold tests to ensure compliance with design tolerances.

Documentation Handover
Preparation and delivery of installation reports, safety certifications, and traceability documentation.

RESULTS AND BENEFITS

The project, successfully completed in December, delivered a line ready for start-up and capable of producing high-performance wire rod. Careful installation and thorough verification ensured safety, orderly site operations, and full traceability, supporting the client’s strategy to reduce emissions and improve competitiveness through more efficient plant systems.
