Italimpianti coordinates the European LIFE AGHETA project for the capture and valorisation of industrial CO₂

Italimpianti S.r.l. announces that the project LIFE AGHETA – Anthropic Green House gas Emission Transformation and Abatement has been admitted to funding under the European LIFE programme, sub-programme “Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation”.

The project has a total budget of 5,278,235.10 euros, of which 3,166,941.06 euros are funded by the LIFE programme, and represents an important industrial initiative aimed at reducing climate-altering emissions and atmospheric pollutants.

The objective of LIFE AGHETA is to demonstrate, on an industrial scale and under real operating conditions, an innovative Carbon Capture, Transformation and Utilization technology, capable of capturing CO₂ and simultaneously reducing other pollutants deriving from industrial processes, including NOₓ, SOₓ and particulate matter, transforming emissions into potentially valorisable by-products.

The project will be carried out in Brescia, with Italimpianti S.r.l. acting as coordinator. The pilot site will be developed at Edilquattro S.r.l., a company active in the construction and building materials sector, identified for the representativeness of its emission profile and the suitability of the available infrastructure.

The partnership brings together five Italian organisations with complementary expertise:

Through LIFE AGHETA, Italimpianti confirms its commitment to the development of technological and industrial solutions supporting the ecological transition, contributing to the objectives of the main European environmental strategies, including the European Green Deal, the Zero Pollution Action Plan and the Industrial Carbon Management Strategy 2024.

The project aims to offer companies a concrete, replicable and scalable solution to address, in an integrated way, the reduction of CO₂, the abatement of atmospheric pollutants and the valorisation of by-products, with the objective of promoting more sustainable and competitive industrial models.

Within the framework of the project, the contribution of CSMT has been relevant from the initial stages, with support activities for the definition of the project architecture, the construction of the partnership and the engagement of key stakeholders. CSMT will also lead central activities related to the assessment of environmental impact, the characterisation of by-products and the valorisation of results.
